Implementering af NIS loven i Punktum dk

NIS2 Has Taken Effect: Increased Security and Transparency for the Danish Internet

January 23rd 2026

The NIS2 Directive has now been officially implemented into Danish law. These new regulations strengthen the security surrounding Danish domain names and introduce new requirements for both data validation and the disclosure of contact information. This is a crucial step toward ensuring higher levels of trust and security on the Danish internet.

The purpose of NIS2 is to raise the general level of cybersecurity across the EU. For you as a user or business owner with a .dk domain, this means the framework for your digital identity becomes tighter, more transparent, and significantly more secure.

Better control creates trust and security for the Danish internet

As a direct consequence of the new rules, Punktum dk's registrars are now authorized to perform data and identity verification. This is an essential tool in the fight against cybercrime.

By ensuring that the person or company behind a .dk domain is actually who they claim to be, we establish a foundation of trust and security for the Danish internet. This effectively minimizes the risk of:

  • Phishing: Where criminals misuse false identities to trick unsuspecting users into revealing personal information.
  • Identity Theft: Where .dk domains are wrongfully created in the names of others to exploit their reputation.
  • Lack of Transparency: It will now be significantly harder for cybercriminals to hide behind anonymous or false registrations.

Publication of email addresses

Another significant change in the new legislation is that the email addresses of companies holding .dk domains will now be made public in Punktum dk's database (WHOIS). However, this does not apply to sole proprietorships. While this may sound like a departure from familiar anonymity, it is a strategic move to create a safer digital environment.

When contact information is accessible, collective security is strengthened. It becomes easier for:

  • Authorities to intervene against abuse.
  • Security experts to warn about vulnerabilities.
  • Rights holders to quickly contact a domain owner if a .dk domain name is being misused.

What does the NIS2 Implementation mean for you?

For most, daily life will not change significantly, but you will experience a "cleaner" Danish internet. The increased control acts as a digital shield, making it harder for malicious actors to operate anonymously.

At Punktum dk, we are following the implementation closely. We are ready to help our customers navigate the new identity verification requirements, ensuring that your .dk domains always comply with current legislation and contribute to the shared trust and security of the Danish internet.
