What information can I obtain without a court order?

Punktum dk discloses the following information without a court order:

  • User ID
  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • VAT number (Danish business registration number), if applicable
  • Certain IP addresses (we do not have port numbers)
  • Which .dk domain names the registrant has the right to use
  • Dates of any transfers or suspensions of the domain name
  • Whether the registrant has completed a data and ID verification
  • Who the registrar of a specific domain name is

Who the authorized representative is, and who the payer for the domain name is (if applicable). A "payer" is the person who receives the invoice, though not necessarily the person who actually pays it.

When Punktum dk discloses information to the police, we do not notify the affected individuals about the disclosure.

How do I obtain information from Punktum dk?

Initiate a request via our contact form.

Specify the following:

  • The specific information you require. We may only disclose the information you request.
  • Therefore, if you request "information about the registrant, including name, address, telephone number, etc.," we will only provide the name, address, and telephone number.
  • "Information about the registrant" is too broad, as we do not know exactly which information you need.

What information can be obtained via a court order?

Punktum dk discloses the following information pursuant to a court order:

  • Payment details (date/time, in the case of an online payment by payment card or payment via a payment slip/FIK code). Punktum dk cannot see the card number or the identity of the person who made the payment. If payment was made solely through a reseller, Punktum dk holds no payment details.
  • IP addresses of individuals.

It is important that a court order explicitly specifies the .dk domain name(s) to which the information relates, as well as the name and address of the registrant. A domain name must be stated as domainname.dk—that is, without "www" or any other prefix. This is because "www" refers to a website, which is distinct from a domain name.

When Punktum dk discloses information to the police, we do not notify the affected individuals of the disclosure.

What must the court order contain?

The court order must contain the following:

  1. A correct specification of the domain name – without "www" or anything else preceding it (the reason being that this refers to a website, which is distinct from a domain name)
  2. A correct specification of the registrant’s name and address
  3. The precise information to be disclosed

What information does Punktum dk not possess?

  • Information regarding websites, including details about who hosts a website
  • Information regarding website owners, as the owner may differ from the registrant of a domain name
  • Port numbers
  • The IP address used at the time of registering a .dk domain name
  • Payment details for the registration of a .dk domain name, as this process always takes place through a reseller
  • Payment details for payments made via a reseller
  • The identity of the natural or legal person who made the payment
