Fast Track Transfer of .dk domain names

Fast Track Transfer is a technical specification for a faster and simpler transfer from registrant management to registrar management. The solution makes it possible to initiate a transfer more directly when the registrant has selected a registrar and consented to the relevant information being sent to the registrar.

The full technical specification for Fast Track Transfer is available on Punktum dk’s GitHub.

What is Fast Track Transfer?

Fast Track Transfer is a model that allows Punktum dk to send the required transfer information directly to a registrar’s system when the registrant has selected a registrar in Punktum dk’s self-service portal and given consent.

The model does not change the rules for transferring .dk domain names. It changes how the transfer is initiated, so the registrant does not have to handle and forward an authorization code manually.

Why is Fast Track Transfer relevant?

Transfers are a significant part of day-to-day operations. Fast Track Transfer can simplify the process by reducing the need for manual handling of transfer information.

The solution can also reduce the risk of errors, delays, and support enquiries because the information is sent system-to-system from Punktum dk to the endpoint specified in the Registrar Portal.

What can Fast Track Transfer be used for?

Fast Track Transfer can be used to automate incoming transfers of .dk domain names from registrant management to registrar management. This includes:

  • receiving transfer information directly in integrated systems
  • creating a transfer flow at the registrar
  • receiving consent information together with the transfer information
  • reducing the manual handling of authorization codes

Fast Track Transfer therefore supports a more seamless flow in which the registrant can continue directly from Punktum dk’s self-service portal to the registrar’s transfer flow.

How does the process work?

Fast Track Transfer is used when a registrant wants to move a .dk domain name from registrant management to registrar management.

Once the registrant has selected a registrar and consented to Punktum dk sending the information to the registrar, Punktum dk can send the relevant transfer information system-to-system to the endpoint specified in the Registrar Portal.

The endpoint returns a link to the next step in the transfer flow. Punktum dk uses the link to redirect the registrant so that the process can continue in the registrar’s own flow.

What information is sent to the registrar?

Once the registrant has given consent in Punktum dk’s self-service portal, Punktum dk sends the relevant contact and domain information to the registrar via Fast Track Transfer.

The information includes:

  • contact ID
  • name
  • primary email address
  • telephone number
  • address, including street, postal code, city, and country
  • registrant type
  • CVR number and P-number, where relevant
  • consent information, including the time of acceptance and IP address
  • domain name
  • auth token, expiry time, and scope

Fast Track Transfer requires activation

Registrars that want to support Fast Track Transfer must activate the solution in the Registrar Portal. This includes specifying the endpoint URL for receiving transfer information and, optionally, an API key.

Fast Track Transfer is only used when the selected registrar has activated the solution in the Registrar Portal. Registrars that have actively opted in are shown as supporting Fast Track Transfer in Punktum dk’s self-service portal.

Fast Track Transfer FAQ

Fast Track Transfer is a technical model that allows Punktum dk to send transfer information directly to a registrar once the registrant has selected the registrar and given consent in Punktum dk’s self-service portal.

No. Fast Track Transfer does not change the transfer rules themselves. The model only changes how the transfer is initiated, allowing information to be transferred system-to-system instead of being passed manually via the registrant.

Fast Track Transfer can be used to automate incoming transfers of .dk domain names to registrar management. It makes it possible to build a flow in which the registrant is redirected to the registrar’s own transfer flow.

Yes. Fast Track Transfer must be activated in the Registrar Portal. This is where the endpoint that Punktum dk should send the transfer information to is specified, as well as an optional API key if required by the endpoint.

If a registrar does not support Fast Track Transfer, the existing model is used, where the registrant receives and forwards the authorization code manually.

The technical specification is available in Punktum dk’s GitHub repository. It describes the user flow, technical interaction, payload, response, security considerations, and the requirements for registrars that want to support Fast Track Transfer.
