The process for ID check in Punktum dk

The process for ID checks can be initiated via various processes at Punktum dk. The essential thing is that the requirement for ID verification for a registrant is handled where this is considered required.

The role of registrant can be assigned via two processes:

  1. Application / creation of a new domain name
  2. Transfer of existing domain name to new registrant

In terms of ID control, the two processes follow the same underlying process, but with a difference.

  • In general
    • ID control is centered around the user. This means that the ID check is linked to the registrant and not domain (s)
    • The user is requested for ID verification via email
    • Request for ID verification expires after 25 days
    • ID checks must be completed successfully to avoid suspension due to lack of successful ID check
    • If a request for ID verification expires or is rejected, the specified user is marked as "Unknown registrant" and the domain name in question is suspended for 30 days.
    • If an ID check request is already active this will be used. This means that it is the first request to the user which is valid, and possible additional requests for application / creation or transfer will therefore have a shorter lifespan
    • It is important to note that if a user has other domain names and the registrant is marked as "Unknown registrant", these are also suspended, as it is the registrant who is marked is suspended and the ID check is centered around the user.

Application / creation of a new domain name

  1. Upon receipt of the request, a risk assessment is performed, and it can have the following outcomes:
    • ID verification is not required or has already been successfully completed
    • ID control must be obtained via the use of MitID
    • ID verification is initiated, application is closed, and the specified domain name is activated
    • ID verification is initiated, request is terminated, but the specified domain name awaits the outcome of ID verification (note that this outcome is not valid for transfer to new registrant)
  2. ID verification is implemented based on the best assessed method:
    • MitID for Danish companies, private individuals, and associations
    • Manual ID check via requested documentation (section 2.7 in 'Procedure for checking contact information and identity of new registrant residing outside Denmark', and section 2.5 in 'Procedure for checking contact information and identity of existing registrant residing outside Denmark' Denmark ')
  3. ID verification is not considered a success:
    • If it expires after 25 days
    • If it is rejected (only applies to manual ID checks)
  4. If successful:
    • This is marked on the registrant via EPP, in the Registrar Portal and the Self-Service
    • Any inactive domain names are made activ
  5. If a request for ID verification expires or is rejected, the specified user is marked as "Unknown registrant" and the domain name in question is suspended for 30 days.

    • ID verification is initiated, application is closed, and the specified domain name is activated
