Implementation guide for registration of .dk

There are two ways to register, enter into an agreement on right of use and check ID for .dk domain names.

This guide explains how to implement both methods.

Method 1: Primarily through the registrar

This method is as follows 1) a customer applies to a registrar for a domain name, 2) through the registrar enters into an agreement with Punktum dk on the right to use a .dk domain name and 3) connects to a Punktum dk user ID. If the customer is a new registrant and has a Danish address, the customer must pass an ID check.

Method 2: Primarily through Punktum dk

The registrant applies to a registrar for a domain name but enters into an agreement on the right to use a .dk domain name and undergoes an ID check on Punktum dk’s self-service portal (this is similar to the current procedure).

How to - method 1

You must follow the procedure below to ensure that your customers’ .dk domain names are added to the zone quickly. Steps 1 to 7 are required according to the Registrar Contract.

Implementation in the front end of your website

You must clearly present the following information to your customers, in a single format on your website:

  1. The .dk domain name applied for

  2. Applicant’s name and address

  3. Punktum dk’s name and address

    1. Link to the address in both Danish and English

  4. The following text from Punktum dk about conclusion of an agreement, in Danish or English

    1. In Danish

    2. In English

  5. Link to Punktum dk's terms for the right of use to a domain name

    2. In English: https://www.punktum.dk/en/articles/privacy-policy

  7. A feature, such as a check box, which the customer can use to accept the agreement on the right to use the domain name.

  8. Punktum dk’s logo, prominent placement of intro text about Punktum dk and link to ‘About Punktum dk’ (not required by the Registrar Contract).

    1. Link to logo

Technical information when applying for a .dk domain

The registrar must provide the following information when applying for a .dk domain name via the EPP or registrar portal. Please note that there are several steps to this process because it may be necessary to create name servers and/or relevant users before the application can be submitted in the required format.

There is a technical description of the application process in the specification for Puktum dk’s EPP service. However, this also applies to the registrar portal which, contrary to the EPP service, provides a user limit.

The application must include

  1. The domain name sought in the application
  2. Contact details for the applicant, i.e.
    1. name
    2. address
    3. telephone number
    4. email address
  3. Registration period

  4. The names of at least two authoritative name servers. These name servers must be registered in Punktum dk’s system before they can be specified in the application

  5. Company registration (CVR) number, if the applicant is a company, association or public enterprise

  6. Documentation of conclusion of the agreement, for instance in the form of a time stamp indicating when an applicant accepted the agreement on right to use the specified domain name. The registrar should submit the application as quickly as possible to ensure rapid processing and to secure the right to use the domain name.

Before submitting an application, all of this information must be grouped under a single user ID for a user registered via the EPP or registrar portal.

How to - method 2

If you merely submit an application on behalf of a customer and do not process the agreement on right of use through your website, you must provide the applicant with information about the subsequent conclusion of the agreement.

  1. Link to the text in both Danish and English

Punktum dk will then send the applicant an email requesting conclusion of the agreement and, if applicable, an ID check.

This is how it might look on your website. In the example, all information is grouped on one page in a purchasing flow.

Accept

The procedure for implementation of an application according to method 2 is the same as for method 1. However, documentation of conclusion of an agreement is not required and Punktum dk will enter into an agreement with the applicant via the self-service portal.
