My .dk domain name has been suspended

If a .dk domain name is suspended, services such as your website and email may stop working. The most common reason is non-payment. A .dk domain name may also be suspended if the required data or ID check has not been completed.

Why has my .dk domain name been suspended?

When Punktum dk suspends a .dk domain name, we send the registrant a message explaining the reason and what needs to be done.

A .dk domain name may be suspended for reasons including:

  • Non-payment
  • Failure to complete a data or ID check
  • Other matters requiring action from the registrant

Suspension due to non-payment

If the invoice is not paid by the deadline stated in the notice that follows, Punktum dk will suspend the .dk domain name.

Once the .dk domain name has been suspended, it must be restored. When you log in, you pay the outstanding invoice and a restoration fee per .dk domain name together online.

I have paid the invoice – why is my .dk domain name still not working?

If the .dk domain name has already been suspended, paying the original invoice may not be enough.

You must also log in to the self-service portal and pay to have the .dk domain name restored. Only then can the suspension be lifted.

The .dk domain name will usually start working again within an hour of payment, but in some cases it may take up to 24 hours before the website and email work again.

How to restore your .dk domain name

You can pay and restore the .dk domain name in two ways in the self-service portal.

Via open invoices

  1. Log in to Punktum dk’s self-service portal.
  2. Select Payment and invoices.
  3. Find Open invoices.
  4. Pay the outstanding amount.

Via the .dk domain name

  1. Log in to Punktum dk’s self-service portal.
  2. Select Domain names.
  3. Find the suspended domain name.
  4. Select Restore domain name to the right of the domain name.
  5. Complete the payment.

Restoration without logging in

Another person or company can pay for the restoration without logging in to the self-service portal.

Once the invoice and restoration fee have been paid, the restoration process will begin. The registrant will then receive an email from Punktum dk and must approve the restoration within 14 days. If the registrant does not approve it by the deadline, the .dk domain name will be suspended again.

Suspension due to a missing data or ID check

A .dk domain name may be suspended if the registrant’s details have not been checked and approved.

What you need to do depends on how the .dk domain name is managed:

  • If the .dk domain name is registrant-managed, you must log in to Punktum dk’s self-service portal and complete the required check.
  • If the .dk domain name is registrar-managed, you must contact your registrar. The registrar can tell you what is missing and help you with the next steps.

Paying a restoration fee does not resolve a missing data or ID check. The check must first be completed and approved.

How long do I have to restore the .dk domain name?

A suspended .dk domain name can be restored within 30 days of the date of suspension.

If the .dk domain name is not restored within the 30-day period, Punktum dk will terminate the registration of the .dk domain name.
