You can easily register a domain name by following these three steps:

  • Check to see if the domain name is available in our whois database.
  • Register the domain name through one of our approved domain name providers. You can see a list of .dk domain name providers.
  • Activate the domain name by entering into the agreement with us concerning the right to use a domain name in our online self-service portal.

The domain name is now ready to use.

There are three specific situations in which Punktum dk is authorised to take a domain name away from a registrant because of use of the domain name. These cases are described in section 9 of the Terms and conditions for the right to use a .dk domain name.

They are 1. Typosquatting, 2. A clear risk of economic crime or phishing/malware, or 3. Clearly illegal actions that violate significant security or public interests.

In all three situations, a number of conditions must be fully met before we are entitled to do anything about a domain name. You can find more detailed information here and read about how to send a complaint to Punktum dk.

Complaints Board for Domain Names

The Danish Complaints Board for Domain Names handles cases where two parties are in dispute about who has most right to a .dk domain name. This means, for example, that you can complain to the Complaints Board if someone has registered a domain name that infringes your name or trademark rights. You can also complain to the Complaints Board for Domain Names if you think a domain name is being used for Domain Name Warehousing or contrary to Good Domain Name Practice.

Furthermore, you can file an appeal with the Complaints Board for Domain Names against decisions made by us.

You can find further complaints guidance and more detailed information here.

The police

The police is the right authority to investigate criminal offences such as fraud or other IT-related crime. This means you must report the offence to the police. You will find further details about how to file a report with the police on the website of the Danish police.

Yes, you should complain to the Danish Complaints Board for Domain Names, which is authorised to handle this type of case under the Danish Domain Names Act.

Find further details here about how to file a complaint with the Complaints Board for Domain Names.

In the act, Domain Name Warehousing is described as the practice of registering or maintaining the registration of domain names for the sole purpose of resale or rental.

If you have name and address protection, your personal data will not be publicly accessible. However, if you have an agreement with a third party, e.g. if you have appointed a proxy or billing contact to assist with managing and paying for your domain name, these third parties will be able to view your information.

However, this requires that they log in to our self-service portal with their user ID and password, or with their MitID if they have linked MitID to their user ID. If you have opted to have your domain name handled by a registrar, i.e. covered by registrar management, your registrar can also view your personal data.

In addition, Punktum dk discloses personal data to third parties who are entitled to receive such data under Danish legislation. This also applies to individuals whose name and address have protected status in the CPR register.

You can read more about our disclosure of personal data in Punktum dk’s privacy policy.

If you want to exercise a registered person’s “right to be forgotten” under the General Data Protection Regulation, please request this using the contact form available below.

We automatically deletes personal data display and user account access once you are no longer a customer.

However, Punktum dk is required to continue processing certain information about you, e.g. pursuant to the Danish Bookkeeping Act. Some personal data cannot therefore be deleted until this obligation expires.

You can read more about our processing of personal data in Punkum dk’s privacy policy.

When you are number one on the waiting list, you will receive an email from us containing a unique token and a deadline for registering the domain name. To register the domain name, you must apply to the registrar with which you want to register the domain name.

During the application process, you will need to give the registrar the token you have received from us. You can see a list of .dk domain name registrars here.

You must contact the Danish National Register of Persons (Folkeregistret) and apply for name and address protection in the register of persons. Once you have name and address protection, you will also be hidden in the whois database.

Read more about name and address protection at borger.dk.

If you believe Punktum is processing incorrect personal data about you and you wish to exercise your right under the General Data Protection Regulation to have your personal data rectified, please request this by using the contact form available below.

If you are a registrant of a .dk domain name, you are personally required to ensure that your contact information is correct. You can update your contact information on the self-service portal on our website.

If you would like access to Punktum dk’s processing of your personal data, you should send a request using the contact form available below.

We must ensure that information is only released to those entitled to receive it. Accordingly, you may be required to complete our ID check before receiving the requested information.

First, you can seek out alternatives to the domain name using abbreviations or hyphens.

Alternatively, you can sign up on the waiting list for your desired domain name. You can do this by finding the name in the whois database.

When the result appears, you will have the option of registering on a waiting list via our online self-service portal.
